We all know that Olympus is a digital camera manufacturer, and they always promote their cameras based on its extensive zoom capabilities. Apparently, all is not well with Olympus, in which the company has been involved in a major accounting scandal, which would set the company back several steps in the camera business.
It seems that the accounting scandal is so large that Olympus is scheduled to slash around 2,700 jobs, and top management also vowed to restructure its business as the remedy to their current dismal performances. Olympus would also sell some of their unused property, and they would go to the extent of closing down their Philippines plant in the next 2 years. Olympus now plans to refocus on more profitable imaging business, medical, and life-science departments.
