Well Microsoft’s logo has been sticking around for the past 25 years, and it has hardly changed, as clearly, it is the company’s trademark logo. Everyone recognizes it as a flying window with several different colors on the frame – I’m sure anyone would identify it as Microsoft’s!

Well, right after 25 years of dominating the operating system market, it looks like Microsoft is ready for a change. Basically, Microsoft is looking to ‘modernize’ their Windows logo for the upcoming Windows 8 operating system, and it looks like the new logo is somewhat plan – 4 colorful square boxes placed neatly to form a square – that’s Microsoft’s idea of a new Windows logo. Critics mentioned that the new logo carries a new face that is bold and simple – I personally think it’s a half baked effort in redesigning the logo!

Motorola to Cut 20 Percent of Workforce

Let’s face it – Motorola isn’t doing too well in the extremely competitive smartphone market. And judging by the fact that Motorola Mobility is heading towards the deadpool, it looks like Google is here to the rescue. Apparently, Google acquired Motorola Mobility, in which Larry Page mentioned would supercharge the entire Android ecosystem. However, prior to supercharging the ecosystem, Motorola would need to be reorganized in order to gain the synergy.

Just recently, Motorola has announced that they will be laying off at least 20 percent of their workforce, which includes 40 percent of its vice presidents. Generally, the lay-off would scale back Motorola’s presence in Asia and India, while focusing on its operations in Chicago, Sunnyvale and Beijing. The new Motorola will work on lesser devices too, and they will focus on a few high quality handsets each year, as opposed to a few dozens a year. Perhaps Motorola isn’t ‘Blur’ anymore – at least they got a direction to head to, other than the deadpool.

ARM 8-Core Mali GPU

Phosphor Touch Time Reinvents the Digital Watch

Well, it seems E-Ink watchmaker Phosphor would like to reinvent the digital watch, with their introduction of the Touch Time series. As you probably know, Phosphor specializes in e-ink, and they have recently incorporated their e-ink technology in their Touch Time digital watches.

The Touch Time watches would come with a back-lit LED, capacitive display, in which you can swipe between the faces, and also control a series of built-in apps on the watch. The watch comes with all the basic features like alarm, world time, calendar, reminder, calculator, stop watch, and it even can track the phases of the moon. My niece loves her ballet lessons immensely, and over the past couple of years, her ballet skills have improved tremendously. Let’s just face the fact – Nokia has lost a considerable amount of market share due to their ignorance over the Android onslaught, and they have further extended their death-will, in which the company plans to announce their spanking new Windows Phone 8 smartphones at the upcoming Nokia World forum, which is scheduled to take place, some time next month.

Generally, the show would kick off September the 5th, and the show would tour various locations around the world, promoting their latest WP8 smartphones. Surely, I find Nokia’s ignorance towards the Android is simply astounding – they’d rather risk the overall health of the company over their ever mind-boggling ego, denouncing that the Android is inferior to their MeeGo, which is a hugely failed project.
