LG Unveils L-series Phones PDF Print E-mail

If you have been anxiously waiting for the latest LG smartphones, I’m pretty sure that you’d be definitely delighted with the latest LG L-series that was recently unveiled at the MVC. Basically, the L-series will contain 3 variants, namely the L3, L5, and L7. The respective smartphones are equipped with a 4-inch screen and is powered by some of the latest smartphone hardware.

Also, the L5 and L7 are aimed at the mid-range and premium market. Apparently, the L-series operates on the ICS too. The L-series also has the same hardware that is contained in the DNA and Prada Phone 3, which gives the L-series good benchmark when compared to other top phones in the market. Although there isn’t any official price released at MWC, I’m guessing that these smartphones would be priced rather competitively.

Samsung did exceptionally well in their LCD business, whereby their LCD sales exceed expectations, which contributed handsomely in their overall revenue for the entire 2011. Of course, one man’s loss is another man’s gain, in which Sony’s LCD business suffered severely in 2011, which prompted the company to sell off their stake in the S-LCD factory that is a collaboration with Samsung.

Apparently, Samsung has just announced their plan to spin off their LCD business. Samsung has just unveiled their Samsung Display plans which would take off on April the first, and the respective startup would have a whopping $6.6 billion in its coffers. It seems that Motorola has filed a lawsuit against Apple’s iCloud in Germany, and Motorola has just won a permanent injunction against Apple. Motorola claimed that Apple has infringed their multiple pager status synchronization system and method that was found on the iCloud system. Let’s face it – it’s really impractical to increase the number of roads on the street, or even to increase cars on the roads, as clearly, this isn’t a practical approach to address severe traffic congestion problems. Nevertheless, there has been various approaches to address traffic standstills, and Hiriko is one of the latest efforts by MIT, in which the project is also in collaboration with Basque businesses and the Spanish government.

Basically, Hiriko is an electric vehicle, but it comes with its own bag of tricks. For instance, the bubble-esque ride is equipped with 4 independent in-wheel motors. Also, what’s even interesting about Hiriko is the fact that the car can be folded vertically, which allows the car to occupy only two-thirds of space taken by a regular vehicle. Apparently, the Hiriko will use a joystick instead of a standard steering wheel. It’s the time of the year again, where companies declare their quarterly earnings report. And as for Nintendo, they have just released their October to December 2012 quarterly earnings report, and the outlook looks grim for Nintendo. Apparently, Nintendo has reported a 61 percent drop in profit, in which it was traditionally deemed as a strong quarter for Nintendo.

Although Nintendo suffered a massive drop in profit, the company is still operating in the green region, with reported profits of ¥40.9 billion (about $631.6 million) for Q4 last year. Nintendo attributed the drop in sales due to sagging 3DS sales, which forced the company to slash prices on the respective handheld console. On a brighter note, President Satoru Iwata has announced that they will be releasing the new Wii U console for US, Europe, Australia and Japan before the 2012 year-end holiday season.
