EU to Launch First 2 Galileo Satellites PDF Print E-mail

The European Union has contemplating on developing their first ever satellite navigation system, dubbed as the Galileo. Basically, the Galileo would provide an alternative to US operated GPS systems, and best of all, this particular system would be made available for free to consumers. Apparently, the free consumer service is scheduled to launch in 2014, and a more accurate positioning system would be introduced in 2020, but this particular system would be a paid service.

Also, the European Space Agency has already placed 2 Galileo satellites into orbit this month, and the satellites would be part of the intended 30-satellite constellation, in which the entire satellite placement would be completed by 2019. Two scheduled launches would take place every quarter of the year and the entire project is projected to cost a whopping €90 billion over the next 20 years.

The Atom processor is one of the most successful microprocessors in the market, and Intel expects to extend the lifespan of the Atom, simply by introducing 4 more Atom chips that would soon find its way to mainstream netbooks and nettops. Basically, two of the upcoming Atom processors will be coming from the delayed Cedar Trail series, namely the D2500 and D2700, and the processor will come with clock speeds of 1.86GHz and 2.13GHz, with the latter upping that to 2.13GHz and 2.4Ghz respectively.

And as for the other two, the respective Atom processors is targeted at the energy-efficient market, in which the N2600 has a TDP of less than 3.5W at 1.6GHz or 1.86GHz, while the other N2800 has a 6.5W TDP, running at 1.86GHz or 2.13GHz.
