South Korea and U.S. Dismiss Peace Talks with North Korea PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 28 December 2009
The North Korean counterpart signaled their willingness for further peace talks with South Korea and America lately, but their idea of peace was shot down prematurely with South Korea and the U.S. rejecting such talks. Both the allies have mentioned that they will start the peace talks with North Korea, only if the North agrees to the disarmament and denuclearization talks. The North on the other hand, retaliated by saying that such negotiations will hinder the building of better ties between these nations.

Personally, I believe that North Korea should agree to the disarmament and denuclearization programs, as clearly, such weapons of mass destruction will bring death and destruction to the nation.

Clinton Wish to Address Dispute with Japan PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 21 December 2009
We all know that the US and Japan signed a security treaty for 50 years, whereby both nations will be committed in providing regional security for the region. And when it comes to sensitive issues concerning the security deal, it seems that both Japan and the United States inked a deal in 2006 to relocate the Futenma air station. The question is – both nations have yet to find a suitable relocation area, and the people in Okinawa are restless over the issue.

Of course, Clinton is searching for an amicable answer for this particular situation, and I believe that such situations are not particularly easy to resolve.

Unemployment Unchanged by Stimulus Packages PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 15 December 2009
In the latest developments over the unemployment issue in the country, it seems that President Barack Obama’s first stimulus package which amounted to $20 billion dollars, did not have any effect on the local unemployment rates in the country. Of course, the $20 billion dollars that was allocated for roads and bridges in the country raised questions on whether such allocations could help alleviate the unemployment problems in the country. With the nation’s unemployment rate at an all-time high of 10 percent, Obama wants to implement a second stimulus bill for such roads and bridges again, and he even mentioned that such stimulus is vital to accelerate job growth.

Do you think that such stimulus is effective in reducing the unemployment in the country?

US Makes Progress in Controlling Tobacco PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 12 December 2009
We all know that tobacco has caused far more deaths a year, as smokers tend to succumb to various types of diseases as well as cancer as the direct result of smoking tobacco. Nevertheless, it seems that the government has made progress today in curbing the usage of tobacco, whereby the federal government might give power to the Food and Drug Administration to regulate tobacco. On the other hand, the US Congress has doubled the tax on cigarettes last year, whereby they are charging up to $1.01 per pack. Smoking costs the US economy more than $193 billion each year, and these are grouped into healthcare costs and lost in productivity.

Do you think that the government should increase their control to curb tobacco?

US Marines to Afghans: We are not Here Forever PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 08 December 2009
Everyone knows that the US forces will pull out of Afghanistan latest by 2011, and that the Afghanistan government will have to take control of their war-torn nation, and fend off warlords who will be trying to take control of the country. Of course, the US Marines have bluntly mentioned that the armed forces will not be staying in Afghanistan forever – a clear reminder that the political situation in Afghanistan needs to improve, or else it will still remain pandemonium, even after the US troops have fully retreated from the country. And as for the final count of troops which are based in Afghanistan, it seems that more than 110,000 are now serving in Afghanistan, whereby 70,000 of these troops are Americans.

Do you think that the Afghanistan government can take charge of their country?

I’m pretty sure that by now Sarah Palin is a wide known public figure, as she was the vice-president candidate in the 2008 election for America. Generally, Sarah Palin gave up her job as Governor for Alaska for undisclosed reasons, whereby top political analysts have mentioned that she might actually be ridden with debts from her previous electoral campaigns. Nevertheless, it seems that Sarah Palin has recently disclosed that she will be joining Fox News as a commentator, whereby she will be offering the news broadcasting station her political views and analysis for the latest political developments in the country.

3-D Internet - The Way Forward PDF Print E-mail

IBM has been leading the pack when it comes to experimentation in virtual worlds, creating presences in many platforms and working with a variety of companies to do new things. Employees at IBM put in a lot of personal time in the exploration of 3D space, and virtual worlds have become a major effort.

Much of this is covered in the presentation, although the real focus is on trend analysis. Why is the Internet going 3D, and what does that mean to us today?

The early web was just about finding what you were looking for. Soon developers developed ways to share and collaborate, and this particular technology is called "Web 2.0". The latest trend with virtual worlds involves experiences, participation and co-creation.

These tools need leveraging to enhance operations, support, planning, and marketing, but there's more. It needs to fit for government, business and society at large - no one sector should be able to dictate the terms of its development. Personally, I believe that we need to move toward making worlds more interpretable, and integrate them into the real world.
