US Makes Progress in Controlling Tobacco PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 12 December 2009
We all know that tobacco has caused far more deaths a year, as smokers tend to succumb to various types of diseases as well as cancer as the direct result of smoking tobacco. Nevertheless, it seems that the government has made progress today in curbing the usage of tobacco, whereby the federal government might give power to the Food and Drug Administration to regulate tobacco. On the other hand, the US Congress has doubled the tax on cigarettes last year, whereby they are charging up to $1.01 per pack. Smoking costs the US economy more than $193 billion each year, and these are grouped into healthcare costs and lost in productivity.

Do you think that the government should increase their control to curb tobacco?
