Toshiba Hit for $87 Million in LCD Price Fixing Verdict PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 04 July 2012
LCD manufacturers have been hit hard by lawsuits which claimed price fixing, and we’ve seen a fair share of these lawsuits over the past decades, with numerous MNCs like Samsung, LG, and the latest Toshiba, being fined several million dollars for their misconduct. And just recently, the jury from District Court for the Northern District of California, handed down a guilty verdict on Toshiba.

And based on the guilty verdict, Toshiba is now liable to pay $87 million in damages, as part of the class action suit. Generally, $70 million would be awarded to consumers, while the remaining $17 million would be handed to manufacturers that purchased the company’s panels. However, it seems Toshiba might not need to fork out the money at all, thanks to other settlements achieved by others that were caught in the same scandal. Still, Toshiba maintained their innocence and would pursue all available legal avenues on this matter.
