OnStar Expands Smartphone Control for 2011 GM Lineup PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 28 July 2010
Smartphones are dominant cell phones of the 21st century, and we’ve seen how car companies are slowly incorporating the smartphone connectivity to their cars on a gradual basis. Nevertheless, it seems that General Motors are busy with their integration, whereby it seems that OnStar is helping the huge company to expand the smartphone control for their 2011 lineup.

Generally, OnStar’s integration will see that you can use your smartphone to unlock doors, monitor system performances, as well as control the recharging rate for electric-based vehicles. And if GM succeeds in the integration, you can use your iPhone, Android-based cell phones or even BlackBerry devices to control your car.

However, OnStar will be charging a somewhat steep rate for their app, whereby you’ll need to pay $18.95 per month for access.
