Apple and Samsung Feeling the Mobile Phone Sales Pinch
Thursday, 28 January 2016
Let’s face it, the world’s economy isn’t doing too well these days, and everyone knows about this. And when it comes to top smartphone manufacturers like Apple and Samsung, it looks like they are now feeling the pinch when it comes to their smartphone sales. Basically, both companies would record a surge in smartphone sales in the first quarter in year by year basis – but not this year.

Apple recorded an impressive $75.9 billion in revenue, and $18.4 billion in profit. However, when it comes to the total smartphone units sold, Apple only managed a small increment of 74.78 million compared to the previous year of 74.5 million units. Samsung on the other hand, made $20.67 billion in revenue, and $1.83 billion in profit for their mobile phone division, however the figure is significantly lower when compared to the previous year.

M-Audio Oxygen 25
Thursday, 28 January 2016
I find it to be a bliss playing a keyboard with mixing functionalities, as I find such device to be truly awesome indeed. Just the other day, a good friend of mine showed me his M-Audio Oxygen 25, whereby the respective keyboard is a portable MIDI player and it comes with a series of keyboard controllers too. Although the keyboard is tiny, it can create amazing sounds that are out of this world. After trying out the M-Audio Oxygen 25, I’m thinking of getting one myself, as I am an avid keyboardist, and I would definitely like to spend more time playing on this awesome device.

Netherlands Forensic Institute Cracked BlackBerry Secure Messaging
Tuesday, 12 January 2016
BlackBerry is known for their secure messaging features, whereby even the American President uses a BlackBerry as they claim is one of the safest smartphones in the market. However, it looks like BlackBerry’s secure messaging days are numbered, whereby the Netherlands Forensic Institute has just recently confirmed a report that they are now capable of intercepting and scooping up encrypted data from PGP-equipped BlackBerry devices.

The Netherlands Forensic Institute has not disclosed on the exact method used, however, it looks like they are relying on a tool from CelleBrite in order to achieve such feat. One of the known possibilities used is by guessing the password based on a memory dump, however that would require someone to yank out the memory chip in order to do it. Personally, I think hitting BlackBerry’s server would definitely be better, as you’ll get to download their entire database in one go.

Studio Workstations
Tuesday, 12 January 2016
My girlfriend is a keyboardist, and she has been playing the keyboard as her main musical instrument for the past 10 years now. To tell you the truth, she is an extremely talented keyboardist and musician, and I enjoy listening to her music whenever she jams. Since she will be celebrating her birthday soon, I am thinking of getting her a birthday present that is music related. After browsing the internet for ideas, I am thinking of getting her a studio workstation, so that she can place her keyboards neatly on top of the respective workstation. Apparently, this website www.musiciansfriend.com/desks-tables-workstations sells some of the best studio workstations in the market, and I find their price rather reasonable too.

Fun Color Maze Pen
Tuesday, 15 September 2015
A good friend of mine works for an organization that provides services to needy children. Just recently, we had coffee together, and he told me that he was organizing a charity drive for the needy children. Apparently, he’s looking for fun and creative ideas for the charity drive, and he was given the task of putting together door gifts that would be given to donors who would arrive at the event. And since I’m good at giving out ideas, I suggest that he should include promotional pens that are fun and exciting into the gift bag. For instance, he can order a bunch of Fun Color Maze Pen that can be bought for a small sum of money, but most importantly, the promotional pen has a rather unique design. The respective Fun Color Maze Pen comes with a maze, in which the pen user can guide a steel ball between the maze, and I think such pens are great fun for children. Best of all, the Fun Color Maze Pen isn’t expensive at all, and can be further customized according to his needs.

Uber, Lyft Officially Allowed To Operate In Nevada
Tuesday, 15 September 2015
Uber was definitely an inspirational startup, in which the ride-hailing service took the respective industry by storm, with more people preferring to ride Uber as compared to conventional taxis which are deemed too expensive. And because Uber offers services that are similar to taxi services, there has been a recent clampdown on the service, as clearly, they are not licensed to operate in the respective field.

Well, it looks like Uber and Lyft have got a small breakthrough recently, whereby both companies were granted permits to operate in Nevada, after the state approved new rules for ride-hailing services. Surely, these companies would need to pay administrative fees, and ride provides would need to stick decals onto their cars in order to distinguish them as part of the companies’ fleet.

Thursday, 16 July 2015
Well Xiaomi certainly isn’t a mainstream TV or smartphone manufacturer, but certainly, the company is stepping on the right foot, as they are recognized as one of the fastest growing smartphone manufacturer in China and also Asia. Of course, Xiaomi recently not only manufactures smartphones, but it looks like the company has other products too, like the spanking new Mi TV 2S.

What’s interesting about the Mi TV 2S is in fact that the TV is a 4K TV and it has a very thin factor too, in which it only measures 9.9mm thick. The 48-inch TV is sold for only $485, and if you want the sound bar, the entire set would cost you $645. The Mi TV 2S also has uncompressed YUV 4:4:4 color gamut at 4K and 60fps, in which this particular feature is only available on high-end and professional grade displays. And oh, one last thing – Samsung made the panel, but the LED backlight module is by Xiaomi.
